Investing in improving your home

Wednesday, March 9, 2011 3:01:59 PM Europe/London

Investing in your home is vital if you want to improve on the sale price of the property before you sell it on. In this economic climate it is becoming more and more difficult to sell and improving you home in any way might allow it to give potential buyers that extra push to sale.

Improving your home would be things like re-doing the kitchen or installing a new bathroom, adding a conservatory or converting the loft into another room. These projects are large and can be quite expensive but if it is your aim to sell your home then this might be the only way to achieve it.

One builder commented, “I have been working on a loft conversion in Hull. The loft space has freed up 30% extra space for the property and provides a valuable extra bedroom or study for a potential buyer. The owner of the property just couldn’t get the house sold because most buyers were looking for a three bed roomed house, not a two bed roomed. Opening up the loft reduced storage space but added this valuable extra room and suddenly there has been more interest from buyers. I am convinced that improving your home in this way would do your property the world of good!”

A property owner nearby said, “I decided to improve my bathroom from an 80s avocado coloured suite to a clean, white finish. I thought that this would make it more appealing to buyers and luckily I was right. I decided to go for a vitra bathrooms range which was cost effective but a very high quality as well. This included a shower from matki showers which finished off the room well. I have now had more interest from buyers who do not want the hassle of having to convert the bathroom when they move in. It gives people extra reassurance that there is less work to do when they get into the property. I am really glad I made the investment because times are tough and the property market is not doing all that great at the moment.”
